Fall 2026  -  Volleyball - Adult
If spectators/kids come to watch they may sit and watch. BUT if they want to run or play on the turf or other courts, they will need to pay $2 per person and wear a wristband!
RULES
  1. Players must be 16 or older to be eligible to play.
  2. No current “Collegiate Volleyball” players will be allowed in the league.
  3. If they made the high school team, they are not eligible to play the women’s fall league.
  4. Will play 6 x 6. Rosters will have 12 players maximum.
  5. An A league player can NOT play in B league, and a B league player cannot play in A league (unless approved through the Recreation)
  6. The Recreation Department will and can approve exceptions due to mid-season injuries or other circumstances that we deem fit.
  7. All players MUST be listed on the roster (First and Last Names), have signed the waiver, and put their shirt size by the third week of the season.
  8. Rosters shall be kept current at all times and are available each week (site supervisor has the binder)
  9. Rosters also need to have “subs” on their roster. Once that person has signed that team’s roster, they can NOT “sub” for any other team (A league or B league).
  10. All players wishing to play in the league tournament MUST have played in at least HALF of the regular season games. Unless you have approved exceptions through the recreation department.
  11.  Please make sure you are listed on the score sheet when you play. It is NOT the official's responsibility.
  12. No uniforms or numbers are required. Shoes must be worn on the gym floor.
  13. Arrive at least 10 minutes before the game. Each team will have a 5-minute warm up. If the previous game ends late, teams will still be allowed 5 minutes to warm up. If a team arrives at their start time, no warmup time will be allowed. The referee will declare a forfeit at game start, if no team shows up or not enough players are present. The referee will give a 5-minute grace time for players to show before declaring a forfeit. Must have at least 2 players to NOT forfeit
  14. Substitutions allowed in the center back position only. Unlimited substitutions per player.
  15. No attacking the ball on the serve across the net. You can set the ball back. When setting a volleyball, the ball should only be contacted by your fingers and never the palms of your hands. The referee will be given discretion to determine this.
  16. The ball is playable off of any body part, as long as it is not a lift (opened palmed). You can play a ball off the foot, even if it is moving.
  17. Rally scoring. Two games to 25. (Third game to 15 if needed). Cap 25 and cap 1.
  18. The only game not capped at 25 is the championship game. (Championship must win by 2)
  19. If the volleyball hits the ceiling while crossing the net or crosses the net and hits the opposing team basket hoop, it is a point for the opposing team.
  20. Hitting the net while blocking or crossing under the net, while blocking/hitting will result in a side out and point for the opposing team.
  21. If the volleyball hits the ceiling, the ball is still alive and can be played (as long as it stays on your side) If it hits the ceiling and crosses over the net, it's an automatic point for the other team.
  22. No playing the ball off of the curtain or the walls.
  23. No use of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs or illegal use of drugs allowed. If caught with these items in the gym, the Site Supervisor will ask the player or spectator to leave.
  24. No foul language towards the other teams, officials, or site supervisors will be allowed.
  25. Please provide supervision for your children when in the building.
  26. Absolutely no hanging or climbing on the nets.

Scoring:

  • Every serve is a point.
  • First two games go until 25 points. Third game goes to 15 points.
  • Best of three games for 5th-6th & 7th-9th. 3rd-4th only plays two sets.
  • First one to 25 for the first two sets, first one to 15 for the third wins.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WIN BY TWO

Serving:

  • 3rd-4th Grade League- They may come up to the gray pickleball line to serve but can NOT pass that.

Two serve attempts (if they miss their first serve, they get a second try). If the server misses their second serve, the coach will throw a free ball over to the other team to play out. The other team gets the point and will get to serve after the free ball.

Other:

  • Home team wears White and visitors wear Maroon. Home team is the first team listed on Quickscores.com.
  • You NEED to rotate each sideout.
  • Only two players need to play. Forfeit will happen, if you only have one player.
  • Everyone serves, rotate in after the serve.
  • The ball can hit the ceiling and still be playable, if it is within the 3 touches.
  • If the ball hits the divider, it’s a sideout.
  • Blocks do not count for the three touches.
  • If the ball hits the ceiling and lands on the opponent side of the net, it’s a sideout.
  • Net Violations will be called.
  • No doubles will be called.

REMEMBER: THIS IS FOR FUN! PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL TO ALL ATHLETES AND OFFICIALS.

Nephi Recreation programs are focused on:

  • Fun
  • Life Skills:Teamwork & Communication (Understanding that sometimes we win and sometimes we lose)
  • Skill Development
