The Renaissance City Softball League (est. 1998) is private 501(c)(3) organization and since 2001, we have been a proud member of International Pride Softball (iPRIDE Softball), one of the world's largest and oldest LGBTQ+ sports organizations. iPRIDE Softball was founded in 1977 as NAGAAA (North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance) to provide inclusive, organized softball competition for the North American LGBTQ+ community. It oversees 57 member leagues, 1,000+ teams, 20,000+ players, and hosts the annual Gay Softball World Series and the NAGAAA Cup.
The RCSL Constitution Preamble and Mission is as follows:
"We the members of the Renaissance City Softball League, in order to provide a normal structure for the continuation of a softball league in the Greater Providence area, free from discrimination on the basis of race, religion, creed, sex, national origin, or sexual preference, with special emphasis on participation from within the LGBTQ+ community, hereby adopt this Constitution in order to formalize our objectives of fellowship and friendly competition."
"Our mission is to foster and coordinate local and national amateur competition, to promote sportsmanlike conduct, and to provide positive social activities for the LG BTQ+ community and our Allies. We strive to create a safe environment for all".
