Dear Parents,

I'm thrilled to welcome you and your child to this exciting new season of youth recreational basketball! We are looking forward to a fun-filled, energetic, and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Your child's participation is a fantastic opportunity for them to learn new skills, make friends, and develop a love for physical activity. Salt Lake County believes that sports are not just about competition, but also about learning the values of teamwork, discipline, social skills, and perseverance.

Here's what you can expect in the coming days and weeks:

• Team rosters and schedules go live today. When rosters go public, you should receive an email notification from Quickscores with your team assignment and a link to sign in. Please look out for this email in your inbox (sometimes it can get sent to a junk/spam/promotions folder. If you have not received a notification by the weekend and you cannot find your team assignment, let me know.
• Try using the Find My Team tool to search by player name (or, in some cases, parent name) to locate your team assignment.
• Rosters are subject to change. Sometimes we miss teammate requests as we are putting rosters together, but we'll do our best to correct them if you let us know early. If you think a mistake may have been made with your team assignment, please reach out. Rosters assignments will lock - no exceptions - on Friday, August 21.
• First League Day (August 29): Meet with your team at the court listed on your team schedule. Coaches will pick up your team's jerseys and distribute them today. Staff will meet with the coaches and teams to explain some important game rules before tipping off the first play of the season. Please ensure your child comes dressed in appropriate sports attire and brings a water bottle to stay hydrated.
• Games will be played every Saturday from August 29 - October 10. Game times will vary throughout the afternoon.
• All K-2nd Grade players should practice with a size 5 (27.5") basketball and 3rd-6th Grade participants should be practicing with a size 6 (28.5") basketball. We have a limited supply of basketballs that may be borrowed for practice, so we encourage you to bring your own ball to each session.
• Communication: Staff will keep you updated on any changes to the schedule or important announcements through quickscores.com/holladay-lions and emails.
• Bookmark our 2026 Fall Basketball homepage for easy access to schedules, rules, and other league information.
• Volunteer Coaches: Coaches are expected to lead their teams through practice sessions, pre-game warm-ups, and games. You can check to see if your team has a verified coach by viewing your team page in Quickscores. Teams with coaches will have the coach’s name listed at the top of your team page.
• Please note that a coach will not be listed until they have been verified by a background check. If you would like to volunteer to lead your team, fill out the attached volunteer packet and return it to me.
• Only verified coaches of 3rd-6th Grade teams may schedule a weekday team practice (K-2nd Grade will only meet on Saturdays). Once a weekly practice has been scheduled, your coach should let you know when it will be held.
• There will be a Coaching Info Meeting at Holladay Lions this Saturday, August 15, at 9am. If you  want to learn more about what coaching entails, you are encouraged to attend!
• If a coach has not been identified for your team by August 15, I will be scheduling a mandatory team meeting prior to the start of the season to help organize parent volunteer roles. These meetings may be scheduled during the evening of August 18 or 25. More details will follow for affected teams.
• Parent's Role: As parents, you play a crucial role in your child's sporting journey. Beyond coaching, your support, encouragement, and positive attitude greatly contribute to their experience and enjoyment of the game. Please support your team by taking on one of a variety of volunteer roles, from organizing post-game snacks to assisting as a bench coach during games.
