Jr. Jazz Basketball 9th-12th FAQ

Team Names - All team names must be approved by the league coordinator.  Team names must be appropriate for family recreation audiences and are checked on Google and Urban Dictionary.

Rosters - Players names can be added to the team roster up to the 5th regular season game.  Parents or legal guardians must sign the roster before players are allowed to play.  Players must participate in at least 4 regular season games to be eligible for tournament play.  NO exceptions!

Jerseys - 9th/10th grade teams have the option to use Jr Jazz jerseys provided by Lehi City.  Captains for that league will be contacted regarding jersey pickup at a later date.  11th/12th grade teams must provide their own jerseys.  Jerseys must be reversible with numbers on the front and the back.  No duplicate numbers on the same team.

Practices - Unfortunately Lehi City does not have the gym space to provide a practice time for every 9th-12th grade team.  Sometimes we have a few times left over from the younger grades.  If we do, they will be made available to the 9th-12th grade teams on a first come, first serve basis in mid-December.

Game Days - This is subject to change.  November/December games will begin November 27th and be played on Monday through Saturday.  January - March games will be played on Monday through Thursday, and Saturday.  Games are not rescheduled unless Lehi City is unable to hold the game due to loss of location - we cannot work around teams' personal schedules.
IDs - All players must show a government or school photo ID at the beginning of each game to check in.  Each player must prove their grade prior to the first game via Skyward or other format approved by the Recreation Coordinator.

Forfeits - Teams with less than 4 players 5 minutes after game start time will forfeit the game.  Teams that forfeit twice will be ejected from the league.

Technical Fouls - Teams or players with sportsmanship issues will be warned before receiving a technical.  Hanging on the rim [before, during or after the game] or serious infractions including fights will not always warrant a warning before receiving a technical.  A player who receives a technical foul will need to sit on the bench for 10 minutes.  A coach who receives a technical foul will need to sit on the bench for the remainder of the game.  If a player or coach receives a 2nd technical foul in the same game, they will be ejected from the current game and given a 1 game suspension.  If a player or coach receives 3 technical fouls in a season they will be suspended from the remainder of the season including tournament.  If a team receives 7 collective technical fouls the entire team will be ejected from the league.

Sportsmanship - Teams will be graded on their sportsmanship at each of their regular season games.  Teams must receive an average of a "B-" grade on all of their regular season games to be eligible for tournament play.  NO exceptions!
Issues During a Game - If you need a clarification on a rule for a current game, you have a question about your current game, you need to forfeit your current game, you have a discrepancy with the official or scorekeeper, etc. please find the site supervisor.  There is a site supervisor for each gym - they should be wearing a red shirt with "SUPERVISOR" on the back.  The league coordinator cannot make changes to games after the fact.
Issues After a Game - If your score is posted wrong on Quickscores, you want clarification on a rule for future games, you have a question about future games, you need to inform the coordinator of a forfeit for your future game, etc. please contact the league coordinator.  The league coordinator for 9th-12th Grade is Megan Ruppenthal.  She is in office Monday - Thursday from 8am to 6pm.  Her office number is 385-201-2324 and her email is mruppenthal@lehi-ut.gov.
