Players must be 16 or older by December 31 that year to be eligible to play.
No current “Collegiate Volleyball” players will be allowed in the league.
If they made the high school team, they are not eligible to play the women’s fall league.
Will play 6 x 6. Rosters will have 12 players maximum.
An A league player can NOT play in B league, and a B league player can not play in A league (unless approved through the Recreation)
The Recreation Department will need to approve exceptions due to mid-season injuries or other circumstances that we deem fit.
All players MUST be listed on the roster and have signed the waiver by the third week of the season.
Rosters shall be kept current at all times.
Rosters also need to have “subs” on their roster. Once that person has signed that team’s roster, they can NOT “sub” for any other team.
All players wishing to play in the league tournament MUST have played in at least HALF of the regular season games. Unless you have approved exceptions through the recreation department. Please make sure you are listed on the score sheet when you play.
No uniforms or numbers are required. Shoes must be worn on the gym floor.
Arrive at least 10 minutes before the game. Each team will have a 5 minute warm up. If the previous game ends late, teams will still be allowed 5 minutes to warm up. If a team arrives at their start time, no warm up time will be allowed. The referee will declare a forfeit at game start, if no team shows up or not enough players are present. Must have at least 2 players to not forfeit.
Substitutions allowed in the center back position only. Unlimited substitutions per player.
No attacking the ball on the serve across the net. You can set the ball back. When setting a volleyball, the ball should only be contacted by your fingers and never the palms of your hands. The referee will be given discretion to determine this.
The ball is playable off of any body part, as long as it is not a lift (opened palmed). You can play a ball off the foot, as long as it is planted on the ground.
Rally scoring. Two games to 25. (Third game to 15 if needed).
Only game not capped at 25 is championship game. (Championship must win by 2)
If the volleyball hits the ceiling while crossing the net or crosses the net and hits the opposing team basket hoop, it is a point for the opposing team.
On the serve, if the volleyball hits the basket on your own side, it is a re-serve.
You only get one re-serve, if you hit the basket on the second serve it is a point for the other team.
Hitting the net while blocking or crossing under the net, while blocking/hitting will result in a sideout and point for the opposing team.
If the volleyball hits your own basket during your 3 hits, the ball is still live, and can be played.
No playing the ball off of the curtain or the walls.
No use of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs or illegal use of drugs allowed. If caught with these items in the gym, the Site Supervisor will ask the player or spectator to leave.
No foul language towards the other teams, officials, or site supervisors will be allowed.
Please provide supervision for your children when in the building.
Absolutely no hanging or climbing on the nets or climbing the fence.
Have a great season! Remember this is a Recreation League! We want to focus on fun and participation. Good sportsmanship is always expected!!
