The minutes of the September 19, 2013 Board Meeting were approved as written

            Old Business:

Ø      PIR Update- Chuck announced that we were all set.  We have 5-pickleball men to cover the morning shift on Saturday as our guys have games.  For our part, we have plenty of volunteers.

Ø      Monday Field Usage-The travel team will not be using our field for games on Monday.  Monday afternoon is now available for practice.

Ø      New bats-New bats have been available for practices this week.  Once the season starts they will not be available until the second half of the season when 10 new bats will be introduced and the 10 used new bats from the first half can be used for practices.

Ø      Batting cage special-update-Dan announced that the batting cage owner has offered 1-free hour to each of our 12-teams.  It will be necessary for each team to arrange to have most, if not all of the team available for this free offer.

Ø      Dead ball out rule-Teams will not be charged an out if a base coach crosses the field after the pitcher is ready to pitch, however, please have your coach in place early or have them arrive at their base via the back of the backstop.

          Committee and Director Updates:

Ø      Financial Update- Norm Smith-as of this point in time there are still 30 potential players that have not paid their fees.

Ø      Marketing- Rich Elliott- we have 36 banner sponsors that have paid and 1 that dropped out.  We have 10 new banner sponsors.  10 booths will be set up for sponsors for opening day.  He also has 13 sponsors for teams lined up.

Ø      Player Personnel-Fred Schmidt-141 players have registered.  A revised practice schedule will be posted on our web.

Ø      Field Maintenance- Lyman Rinehart-there are still a couple of spots in the outfield that are thin, but he is working on that.  Please place the practice screen beyond those spots so as not to damage them further.  6-teams have given names of volunteers for field maintenance.  Gravel will be spread on the parking lot tomorrow.

Ø      Events Coordinator-Dennis Miazga-we are all set for opening day.  There will be coffee and pastries available at 7:15 Saturday for those working early.  Sub sandwiches will be served for lunch along with chips, cookies and drinks.  Lunch is at 11 AM.

New Business:

Ø      Opening day ceremonies-shown under events coordinator

Ø      Veteran’s Day participation-we will have a decorated cart and men will carry a new banner.  It is hoped that there will be at least 1-player from each team in uniform to walk alongside the cart.  Dan is going to send an email to each manager.

Ø      Parking area upgrade-covered above under field maintenance.

Ø      Goodyear ballpark-Managers are asked to get their lineups along with player numbers and possibly a bio to Mark and Dan.  We play there on Nov. 2nd.

Ø      Questions/Answers (time allowing)-It was explained that we will have 2-season halves with a winner of each.  There will also be a tournament at the end of each half involving all 12 teams.  If a different team wins each tournament there will be a playoff to determine the overall winner.

With no further business, it was moved and seconded that this meeting be

adjourned. This meeting was adjourned at 4:50 PM.  The next meeting will be on

November 21st at 4:00 PM in the Milano room

Respectfully Submitted,

Steve Fletcher
