Adult Co-Ed Softball 2022

Fall 2022  -  Softball - Adult

Nephi Recreation Co-Ed Softball Rules

1) All rosters must be filled out completely and turned in by the end of week 3. No additions will be allowed, after the third week. Except for injury issues or other sensitive issues that have been addressed and approved with the recreation department. Please make sure you have everyone on your roster, so there are no problems. If a team uses an ineligible player, (not on the roster) then they will forfeit that game.

2) Home team listed on the schedule in quick scores (https://www.quickscores.com) is listed first.

3) All participants must be at least 16 years of age by November 30th or older.

4) A team may play a max of 10 players/minimum of 8 players on the field. Half of the participants must be female. If you play 9 players, 5 will be gals with 4 guys. You can still bat 14.

5) No metal cleats.

6) There will NOT be any new innings starting after 50 minutes during league play, no extra innings in the regular season. All league games and tournament games will be timed. Games will be 50 minutes or 7 innings, whichever comes first.

7) Bats need to be USSSA, ASA or NSA stamped.

8) The batting line-up will be set. No sliding line ups. Extra genders will be allowed to platoon in a spot. Bat rotation will be guy/gal/guy/gal, etc.

9) If a male is walked, the following female can choose to automatically walk or bat. The male batter is awarded 2nd base regardless, if the female bats or walks.

10) A mat behind the plate will be used to help determine strikes. Balls that hit home plate or the mat will be considered strikes.

11) There will be a ‘one-up’ rule for men only; women are unlimited. If a man hits a home run ‘out of the park’ that team cannot hit another ‘out of the park’ home run until the other team hits one. If a male hits another home run, they will be considered out.

12) Mercy rule will be called with a 15-run lead after 4 innings or 10-run lead after 5. This will apply in league, and the end of season tournament.

13) Speed-up (courtesy) runners will be allowed for the batter on any base. The runner must be of the same gender, and they must be the last out of that gender.

14) Up the Middle Hit: A pitcher hit from a hot line drive will be an automatic out. A hot line drive grounder hit close to a pitcher will be under the umpire’s discretion. Teams want a chance to turn a double play.

15) Team will play 2 women in the outfield and 2 women in the infield. The pitcher and catcher must be male/female combination.

16) When a woman is up to bat, teams must have all four fielders behind the 175’ painted line until the ball is hit and infielders must remain on dirt until the ball is hit.

17) Absolutely NO tobacco or alcohol will be allowed at the ball fields! Suspension from current game and following games the same evening may occur, if located on an individual or in the dugout.

18) No music with explicit language. Music volume also needs to be kept down. Please be respectful of others.

19) If there is a conflict with players being eligible, or if they are being questioned on who they are, the umpire and site supervisor will and have the right to ID them. If they are not on the roster that team will automatically forfeit the game. All questions about players need to be made BEFORE the game starts.

20) To be eligible in the tournament, each player needs to play half of the regular season games.

21) You may NOT move the bases! We specifically set the bases where they need to be each week before the games! PLEASE do not move them! If you do, you will be fined.

22) Injuries need to be addressed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, the recreation departments needs to know when and who. We want to help resolve the issue of an injured player. Notify the rec, as soon as it happens, so we can help get replacements or other issues addressed.
