SOFTBALL LOCAL RULES

THESE RULES ARE NOT TO BE REGARDED AS A CHALLENGE FOR CLEVER COACHES WHO ARE LOOKING FOR LOOPHOLES AROUND THE RULES. THE INTENT IS TO PROVIDE AN ACCEPTABLE FRAMEWORK FOR PARTICIPATION OF THE GIRLS PLAYING.
  1. PONY Softball for Girls rules and regulations will apply unless specifically modified by the following stated rules.
  2. Use of alcoholic beverage and tobacco in any form by any player, member of the coaching staff, or any umpire is prohibited. No intoxicated person should be allowed on the premises. No vulgar or abusive language will be allowed.
  3. The home team will provide the official scorekeeper.
  4. Fifteen minutes after the starting time is considered forfeit time. All teams will be able to start with eight (8) players, taking one (1) out in the ninth spot in the batting order.
  5. There will be time limits in all age group games. Fast Pitch games will be:
               06U-8U  - One Hour                   10U-14U – One hour and fifteen minutes
  6. 8U and 10U games will be six innings long. All other age groups will be seven linings long.
  7. Run rules per inning will be six runs per inning in all age groups excluding 8U. In 8U, there will 4 runs per inning and there will be no intentional walks. 8U will have 4 pitches or 3 strikes with continuous foul balls.
  8. The Lineup will list every girl on the roster in a batting sequence and each girl will bat in turn even though she may not occupy a defensive position in that inning. A player arriving late may be added to the bottom of the team’s lineup.
  9. For 8U only, a player cannot play more than two consecutive innings in the same position. They can return to a position after playing one inning in another location.
