Quick Tip #17 - Who's on...uh, IN...first and why?

Boy sleeping on laptop It's probably been quite a while since you heard Abbott and Costello's classic Who's On First routine. On the other hand, I'll bet it hasn't been very long at all since you've had one of your athletes call to ask who is IN first, and more importantly, WHY?!? Such questions are usually followed by lots of whining, moaning, begging, and teeth gnashing.

We'll never totally eliminate the hysterics, but we've taken a step towards educating your athletes before they pick up the phone to complain. The standings table at the top of each schedule shows some number of tie-breakers. The bottom section of that table is a legend that lists the tie-breakers that are displayed. (You can display all of the tie-breakers you want by editing the sports options.) We have now made the legend into clickable hyperlinks that jump to a help page that explains exactly how the tie-breaker is calculated.

The most frequent question about tie-breakers concerns the head-to-head criterion with three or more teams. The help page includes a link to a white paper that is gauranteed to either totally answer your athlete's questions or put him into a boredom-induced coma. Either way, he won't be calling you to complain!
